Introduction

Thank you for using voipGauge, the cross-platform widget for Vonage-branded services such as Vonage, Vonage UK, Vonage Canada or Earthlink VoIP service.

If you have just begun using the voipGauge widget, you may find this introduction useful.

Do I have any voice messages?

VoipGauge monitors your voice-mail in-box and displays the number of new messages you have waiting for you.

See how many minutes you have remaining at a glance!

The design of the widget makes it easy to see -- at a glance -- how you're doing with your remaining minutes.  In addition, the glass vial is marked into 5 segments, each representing 100 minutes of time remaining.  When you've reached the bottom, you're gonna have to start paying extra for your telephone usage.

How well are you pacing your minutes usage?

In order to help you pace your usage, there is a small indicator on the right-side of the vial that shows you how far along you are into your contract month.   By comparing the height of this indicator with the height of the remaining minutes, you can quickly see if you're ahead or behind your usage for the month.  Are you too far ahead?  You might want to talk just a bit faster on your calls to prevent you from running into overage.  Are you behind?  Call your mom, or aunt Betty.  They'll be thrilled you did and you'll have the good feeling that you're not going to leave any minutes wasted when your contract rolls over to the next month!

Quiet! Can't you see I'm on the phone?

If you're like me, you'll have your favorite music streaming 24x7 from your PC -- one of the pleasures of the digital era.  Unfortunately, this can easily lead to missed calls (if the volume is louder than it should be) or that race to find all the right buttons to pause everything when a call comes in.  Well no more!  VoipGauge can be configured to monitor your VoIP router* to detect when you have a call coming in and put your digital life on hold, while you take the call.  Finished with the call, your digital life resumes without missing a beat.

If you're industrious, you can even create your own callAction™ and voipGauge can trigger it when your call comes in (or you pick up the phone to dial out) and when you've finished the call.

Mac users will also enjoy some Mac-specific actions that are built in.  Inform your iChat or Yahoo! IM buddies that you're on the phone automatically!

* Currently supported routers: LinkSys RT31P2, LinkSys RTP300, LinkSys WRTP54G, other's may work as well!  If yours is not listed here, but works, let us know!
